- 0400 Commenced preparations for getting underway.
- 0430 Lit off 1B, 2A, and 2B boilers.
- 0615 Set modified condition YOKE throughout the ship.
- 0640 Set the special sea detail.
- 0656 Completed all preparations for getting underway. Draft: Forward 16 feet, aft 18 feet.
- 0709 Underway in accordance with Builders Trial schedule. Manuevering to clear the anchorage. Captain at the Conn, Navigator on the bridge. Tug YTB 258 secured to the starboard bow.
- 0721 Cast off Tug. Steering various courses at various speeds while transiting Sinclair Inlet.
- 0749 Secured from the special sea detail.
- 0753 Passed Pt. Orchard light abeam to starboard, distance 450 yards.
- 0814 Set course 030° speed 10 knots.
- 0815 Commenced vibration survey, sonar self-noise, and underwater log calibration tests, increasing speed in 5 RPM increments while conducting tests.

- 1657 Tugs commenced manuevering ship alongside pier.
- 1720 Moored starboard side to pier 5, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington, with standard mooring lines and two wires. Ships present include USS YORKTOWN (CVS-10) and various units of U.S. Pacific Fleet, Yard and District craft.
- 1733 YTL 589 cast off. Secured from sea detail. Set inport watch.
- 1734 YTB cast off.
