I distinctly remember ALL of the Grant Sharp era. He was NOT a great people person, but was a competent sailor. I remember when he brought back a Puerto Rican girlfriend, while we were in Port-au-Prince. This is when we steamed from Haiti back to Rosie Roads. She stayed either in his cabin or sunned herself out on the bridgewing--- in a Bikini !!!
P.S.: I actually ran into Grant Sharp about ten years ago, at the Phoenix airport; and he hardly even said hello to me. I guess that he was just TOO busy. Well, WE gave him the Battle E and the Comm C, to mention just a few awards. We also handled all of the DesRon stuff while they were embarked, which was often. I believe that he made Rear Admiral before retiring. Take care.
