Senior Chief Dave was a pillar of strength when the King Association needed someone to take on the leadership role to bring stability to a wavering organization. Dave willingly took charge and helped us through some tough times. Shipmate Dave and his pillar of strength, Joanne, did all they could and more than any of us could ask, in order for the Association to survive. The past couple years have been very difficult as Dave fought hard to beat the inevitable. Joanne was by his side and did everything she possibly could do in supporting Dave in this battle for his life. As long as there is a USS King Association and beyond, our members and our friends of the Association will always owe a debt of gratitude to these wonderful giving people.

For me personally, it has been a true honor to know Dave, to chat with him, to exchange email humor, and to give advice when he asked. The best feeling of all was when Dave called me his friend. No more pain and no more suffering for our shipmate who has now joined the staff of the Supreme Commander. My most sincere sympathy and greatest respect and gratitude go out to Joanne for taking care of the Senior Chief in his most difficult time of need. Thanks Joanne and may God bless and keep you both. As I ended so many emails and just one more time for Dave: "Your Friend and Shipmate, - Irv -"

The Passing of Dave Nesbitt

Today 15 February 2012, the USS King Association lost one of it's founders and bulwarks. Dave Nesbitt who helped chart the course for this association and who was a stickler for doing what was right, had led the association as publisher of the Association newsletter "Buccaneer" and as President. Our hearts go out to his family, those that served with him, under him and closest friends, he will be sorely missed.
